Chanel supermarket??

It was Chanel show time at Paris Fashion Week this morning and Karl Lagerfeld exceeded everybody’s expectations. Again!

If you still remember Chanel couture show (and I’m sure you do) not that long time ago, fashion legend wowed everybody by art installations designed by the man himself and now, for autumn-winter ’14 collections, he transformed Grand Palais into a supermarket full of Chanel branded goods that involved everything from meat and eggs, to brooms and liqueur.

Models were walking around and ‘shopping’ while showcasing the collection and after the show was over, guests were welcome to take anything they liked from the shelfs!

You can imagine was was happening after such an announcement. Everybody was literally looting the ‘supermarket’ and taking everything with double C sign. After they were done, the shelves were totally empty.

Karl said that Coco would have hated what he did but his goal was to update the image of the brand. This kind of spectacle was a right choice to emphasise our consumerism and prove that everything with Chanel sign can sell.

But let’s not forget the collection which was totally amazing! Classic Chanel tweed, stylish trainers, leather leggings, tailored tracksuits and a lot of colour created a luxe home-wear feel and made quite an astonishing sight for the guests.

Sky Ferreira live in London

IMG_2128

Yesterday I was so happy I bought that ticket to see American singer Sky Ferreira at London’s Scala because the gig totally exceeded my expectations! I’ve heard a few songs and seen a couple of videos of her but I wasn’t the biggest fan; however, there was something interesting about Sky so I wanted to see her live.

Ferreira came on stage dressed in a leather jacket, leather mini-skirt, leather boots, and, this combination, peered up with a short and messy blonde hair, won some major points from me. Sky was kind of shy and humble on stage and didn’t talk to the audience much, but her performance totally surprised me. First of all, she had this loud and strong voice coming out of her tiny body and her songs sounded way more rock’n’roll than on the recordings. More major points! ‘Foggy’ stage, pink, red and blue lighting, and leather outfit made me feel as I am standing in the New York City bar in 80s and listening to Blondie or some other great pop/punk/rock act. Loved it!! It was clear Sky Ferreira is a new little fish in the pop biz waters because her performance and behaviour on stage were very raw and unpolished, although that was what made the show unique and fresh. You could tell she is not trying to be somebody else and is the real artist inside. Audience felt that too. If I could give her one advice, it would be to stay as she is because that what makes her to stand out.

Claire Barrow – leather jacket revolution

Claire Barrow is a new, quickly emerging face in a fashion world. Westminster University graduate got noticed because of her hand-painted leather jackets, already worn by Rihanna and Jessie J. She has already collaborated with Joseph and presented her collection at London Fashion Week SS/13 witch was influenced by alcohol packaging.

I love her leather jackets influenced by punk and DIY culture. It is nice to see a new talent with a fresh take on fashion.

We like her and wish her luck!

Favourite A/W12 trends

Hello and sorry for being away for so long.. But now I am back and ready to review what is happening in the fashion world. To be honest, I am quite happy and excited with the turn the A/W collections took this cold season. There are quite a few new trends as you probably already noticed on the High Street, but I chose my favourite 4 I am most excited about.

OVERSIZE

Those oversized coats are somehow very attractive and can provide a cool edge to casual or office-smart outfit. I have snapped up mine from Topshop a few days ago!

My new coat from Topshop!

Topshop

Jil Sanders

Celine

Team up with skinny jeans, cropped trousers or wear over the shorts and skirts for a maximum effect.

Gothic & Leather

My personal favourite trend this season! I always was a leather jacket girl and now leather featuring all collections I feel like a child in a sand box. There are leather trousers, leather collars, jackets and dresses that are perfect to create a gothic look which was so popular on the catwalks for A/W12. Also, STUDS! My another biggest obsession which started long ago but now it gets released! Think gothic make-up and dark lips for evening look.

Versace

Gyvenchy

Salvatore Ferragamo

Topshop

River Island

Military

Create a power look with a military trend with cool khakis, leather and tailoring.

Topshop

Max Mara, Victoria Beckham, Burberry

Asos

Optical Prints

Summer is over but prints are staying in our wardrobes to lift up our spirits during those dark and rainy winter days. Optical prints are seen on new and hot trouser suits (office wear do not have to be boring), dresses, bags and coats. My catwalk favourite is definitely Prada. And for those who cannot afford to break a bank Next offers very close alternative.

Mary Katrantzou

Kenzo

With these trends dominating the high street, there is no excuse for dull and dark winter, so style up and enjoy!
