So I have noticed something happening in the fashion world… Some of the biggest designer brands have decided to turn to the music scene and hire some of the most famous stars to front their campaigns. Lady Gaga for Versace, Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs and Rihanna for Balmain. It is kind of a clever PR decision though. There is so much noise going on because of social media and our addiction to it, that the brands need something really captivating and bold to catch our attention for longer than the #regram moment and not all models can provide that. The collaboration between Lady Gaga and Versace, for example. The two are friends and resemble each other to the extent, that they look like mother and daughter, and that already ensures a huge press coverage. Moreover, this is Lady Gaga we are talking about, and wherever she goes, the buzz and anticipation follows. I think this is a really great match for the brand as Gaga manages to communicate the message of elegance, luxury , fearlessness and rock chic attitude that Versace stands for.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that the theme for the Met Ball 2013 was Punk: Chaos to Couture. Well, it kind of makes sense as punk references were all over the catwalks this season and it feels only right to pay the tribute to such a significant force that influenced our culture and fashion.
Costume Institute Gala is one of the most important fashion events of the year and guests really dress to impress. However, looking through the pictures of this years event it is clear that not everybody made enough effort to read the invitation and dress accordingly, and instead chose to play it safe and just look pretty… Well that’s just plain boring…
Here are some outfits that, in my opinion, really rocked the red carpet.
Gwen Stefani in Maison Martin Margiela
Cara Delevingne in Burberry
My ultimate fashion crush – Jesse Jo Stark!!
I love her style because of rock’n’roll and punk elements and ‘effortless’ look that works so well. Bulky rings, long hair with different colour extensions, nail art, platform shoes and denim shorts are pretty much signature attributes to Jesse’s style.
Jesse has started making waves in the fashion world a few years ago (she is only 20 now) and is often called an ‘internet sensation‘. Her brave and laid-back ‘LA girl meets Rock’n’Roll‘ style quickly captured attention and she became an inspiration for many fashion lovers.
But there is no surprise here as her parents are the owners of luxury jewellery and fashion brand Chrome Hearts (where Jesse Jo works herself) admired by many celebrities including Cher, Elton John, Miley Cyrus etc.
[I do not own any of these images]
Jesse Jo Stark is a singer/songwriter too and is recording her debut album. You can listen to some covers and originals HERE.
Here is the song recorded together with her godmother Cher (YEP, THAT’S RIGHT!) for her dad’s birthday!
One lucky girl!
And we love her!!!
