Little Red Dress – in Collaboration with Jara Wine

This Red Chiffon Bow Tie Dress is the second one I’ve styled for Jara Wine. (Boho chick look with another Jara’s dress is available HERE.)

The pop of bright red colour is astonishing and is the main attribute of this dress which is suitable for a day and night outings and is really versatile.

I have teamed the dress with the leather H&M jacket, Primark knee-high socks and TopShop chunky heels. It is quite an unexpected combo but my goal was to demonstrate unconventional way of wearing this kind of dress.

Boho chick in collaboration with Jara Wine

Jara Wine is a women’s wear designer from London, who creates fresh, versatile, and contemporary clothing focusing on colours, textiles and individuality. Her dresses have smart as well as fun feel about them and can be easily worn on many different occasions. Also, all clothes are made in the UK.

Jara asked me to style some of her designs for the shoot so for the first look I chose this Cycle Print Bow Tie Chiffon dress which I used to create a boho chick look. I teamed the dress with a floppy hat (River Island), long grey cardigan (Pull & Bear), Maroccan handbag, green cowboy boots (Deichmann) and white patterned socks (Primark).

Chanel supermarket??

 It was Chanel show time at Paris Fashion Week this morning and Karl Lagerfeld exceeded everybody’s expectations. Again!

If you still remember Chanel couture show (and I’m sure you do) not that long time ago, fashion legend wowed everybody by art installations designed by the man himself and now, for autumn-winter ’14 collections, he transformed Grand Palais into a supermarket full of Chanel branded goods that involved everything from meat and eggs, to brooms and liqueur.

 Models were walking around and ‘shopping’ while showcasing the collection and after the show was over, guests were welcome to take anything they liked from the shelfs!

You can imagine was was happening after such an announcement. Everybody was literally looting the ‘supermarket’ and taking everything with double C sign. After they were done, the shelves were totally empty.

Karl said that Coco would have hated what he did but his goal was to update the image of the brand. This kind of spectacle was a right choice to emphasise our consumerism and prove that everything with Chanel sign can sell.

But let’s not forget the collection which was totally amazing! Classic Chanel tweed, stylish trainers, leather leggings, tailored tracksuits and a lot of colour created a luxe home-wear feel and made quite an astonishing sight for the guests.

Spring – Summer trends at London Fashion Weekend

It’s spring!!! Well, at least in the calendar… But this miserable London weather cannot stand in a way of SS14 hottest trends that will be appearing in my and probably your wardrobes.

So I and my friend Juste have bought the Silver ticket to London Fashion Weekend and Trend catwalk to see what’s the deal. We were well excited! Ha! It was quite a good show I have to say. Four main trends were presented on the catwalk and here are my best pictures representing all of them. We couldn’t sit in the FROW so forgive me for protruding heads at the bottom of some pictures 😀

London Fashion Week – Street style

So I went to Somerset House on the very first day of London Fashion Week and I couldn’t have chosen the worse time to do so… It was windy and raining non-stop (what a surprise, London!!) and, therefore, there were not that many people around, which was quite disappointing.. Anyway, I did what I came to do, and that was to take some style snaps!

New York Fashion Week – Put a belt on me

I, like any other self-respecting fashionista, am very excited about this time of the year. Maybe a tad too much… The reason is, of course, New York Fashion Week, which I am not able to attend in person (tears galore), therefore, I am glued to my laptop trying to stream every possible show or at least go through the pictures of the collections. This is the first year that I am so involved and, I have to admit, it makes me very happy! I know, I know it is becoming ‘uncool’ to give a damn about it as there are many articles going around about what a circus Fashion Week had become, but, being honest, I do not care. It is the biggest fashion fiesta and I am celebrating it! And by ‘celebrating’ I mean Tweeting, Instagraming, blogging, etc. Well, that’s just the way we roll these days…

Anyway, I was watching show after show and I’ve noticed one thing. Belts. Everywhere. Everything is belted, from jackets and coats to dresses, and it looks good, and more importantly, it looks fresh. As seen in Donna Karan, Milly, Altuzarra, Custo Barcelona and others, thin belts (even for outerwear) were dominating; however, Marc by Marc Jacobs belted models with thick boxing belts to compliment the designs screaming of ‘girl power’. It is not an easy trend to embrace as we are used to put our belts on trousers or jeans and it’s there on purpose, although belted jacket or a coat gives a structured and sophisticated look as well as helps to accentuate the female form. It is kind of ‘I mean business vs. sexy’ and it grabs an attention without being too flamboyant.

I was never a big fan of belts (except for my jeans; I need them there, please) but New York Fashion Week just won me over. I give in, put that belt on me! Next season it would be interesting to experiment with belting an oversized, slouchy coat and see how it would change an outfit completely.

Fashion branding goes to the new level

So I have noticed something happening in the fashion world… Some of the biggest designer brands have decided to turn to the music scene and hire some of the most famous stars to front their campaigns. Lady Gaga for Versace, Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs and Rihanna for Balmain. It is kind of a clever PR decision though. There is so much  noise going on because of social media and our addiction to it, that the brands need something really captivating and bold to catch our attention for longer than the #regram moment and not all models can provide that. The collaboration between Lady Gaga and Versace, for example. The two are friends and resemble each other to the extent, that they look like mother and daughter, and that already ensures a huge press coverage. Moreover, this is Lady Gaga we are talking about, and wherever she goes, the buzz and anticipation follows. I think this is a really great match for the brand as Gaga manages to communicate the message of elegance, luxury , fearlessness and rock chic attitude that Versace stands for.

Hema Kaul SS14 Collection: praise to femininity

I came accross Hema Kaul’s SS14 collection and it stroke me how simple, yet fabulous it was! Hema is the fashion designer from Dubai and has already showcased her work at the Fashion weeks in London and Dubai. Her latest collection is full of femininity and elegance,  expressed through pastel and metallic colours, lots of lace details and clean, classic cuts.

The pieces from the collection are easy to incorporate into a life of a modern woman, who appreciates simplicity and wants to show her feminine side.

When the city is calling… Photoshoot, part 3.

So here is yet another part from my outfit posts. I have a little story (which I weirdly remember) about the belt I’m wearing here..

When I was little, my dad bought a car abroad and when he came back home, we found a big bag of clothes in the trunk. My mum threw away almost everything, but we kept the belt because it was so interesting and, at that time, it looked rather funny. I remember thinking it belonged to a circus performers! Many years it was hanging at the back of my parents’ closet and nobody thought it could ever be put in use; however, a couple years ago, when I was visiting my parents, I found the belt and took it with me. While preparing for this photo-shoot, I was looking for some belt for the jump-suit and I accidentally came across this green, feathery creation. I put it on and I loved it! Somehow it worked… It injects the outfit with a sudden twist of the unexpected and I also love that it has a story attached to it… After all, the fashion is about telling everyone’s personal story through clothes…Leather jacket – H&M; jump-suit – H&M; studded clutch – Bershka; necklace – TopShop; shoes – TopShop.  

Fashion photoshoot. Part 2.

So here it is, the second part of my fashion shoot with Joanna Reich. The pictures are all similar in this post but they are my favourite ones so I crammed them all in for you to judge. This time I am wearing the same bleached denim shorts as in the last post, but I tried to create a different look by wearing the slouchy H&M sweater and studded high-top wedge sneakers. I found these shoes on eBay and I fell in love with the leopard print (which is starting to dominate in my wardrobe) and studs so I had to have them. I have never bought any clothes or footwear online before, so I was a bit terrified they (and other 2 pairs of shoes I bought on the same shopping spree) might not fit me, but they did! All of them! Sometimes a girl has to take a risk in order to get more original design. 🙂
